Of course, you can spend a lot of time experimenting with what each class is capable of while exploring their skill trees which are large and stretch across multiple pages. Last but not least, I love that you get to create your own party in Potato Flowers in Full Bloom complete with a variety of character classes. However, there are difficulty spikes that force you to grind which occasionally annoyed me. Skillfully getting the most out of every situation while keeping a keen eye on your stamina and skill meters makes for one involving battle system. For example, I particularly enjoyed erecting elemental walls in front of characters so that melee enemies will get blasted with their weakness if they try to attack them. As a result, you'll end up gauging how much danger you're in and how you can outsmart your opponents. Potato Flowers in Full Bloom features a simple yet highly strategic battle system with its primary mechanic being that you can see what enemies will do next. □ I wonder what this slime statue is for. I'm not sure if they have any practical purpose but it's quite gratifying to watch your base gradually fill with objects some of which will be used by the NPCs. With that in mind, I found the most rewarding treasures to be collectible key items that show up at your home base after collecting them. □ Fun collectiblesĪs you explore the nooks and crannies of each dungeon, you'll acquire a wealth of equipment and materials that you can trade, disassemble, and optimize in order to make your party as strong as possible. Oh, and the music is great and quite catchy to boot. The character models are well-done, too, and I enjoyed watching the reliable supervisor-like character wave whenever you approach her. This is especially true when it comes to the variety of enemies as each type is incredibly cute and they even kind of made me feel bad for defeating them in battle. It's quite easy to forget that there's an NPC somewhere who needs your help or that a puzzle needs to be configured to toggle certain doors, etc. Now that I mention it, there are some parts that had me stumped particularly, when I loaded my save after taking a break. It's little touches like this that made me feel as if I was playing something from the early '90s but in the best sense of that notion. That's about all there is to the story but you will meet a bunch of NPCs along the way who help flesh the world out with their unique tales and tips for your adventure ahead.
